Sci-Fi for beginners
Violet Eyes by Nicole Luiken Angel Eastland knows she’s different. It’s not just her violet eyes that set her apart. She’s smarter than her classmates and more athletically gifted. Her only real competition is Michael Vallant, who also has violet eyes — eyes that tell her they’re connected, in a way she can’t figure out. Michael understands Angel. He knows her...

Comfy couches
After finishing the green leaf hat I’ve finally gotten around to this. I’m excited because I like ear warmers and this pattern can be extended to a scarf (matching!) if I’m so inclined. I also purchased some detailed, cream colored, accent buttons to fasten the head wrap, with little idea about how to put them on. This could probably be finished fairly quickly due to the bulky...

This is a real thing?
So earlier I was unsure of how one actually gets a knitting injury. Last night I finally experienced my first one. After finishing my leaf hat I left the needles in the ball of yarn and last night I was edging them out of the way with my bare foot when the DPN got stuck in the carpet and stabbed my foot. Yes, it was as random as that. So I have my first injury.

Oh, that's already linked
Day 30: What’s your name on Ravelry? If you don’t have a Ravelry account, why? My Ravelry account is linked in my about me section. Confession time: I didn’t realize Ravelry existed until I looked at this questionnaire a few months ago and then promptly googled it and joined.

Day 29: Do you have any tips, or things that you’ve learned from knitting? I’m not really sure if I have too many tips beyond always roll your yarn into a ball. Making that discovery was the single best thing ever for me. It’s so much easier.

Oh, well now that you've asked
Day 28: Do you do any other crafts besides knitting? What are they and did learning to knit come before or after learning these other crafts? I LOVE crafting. I love all kinds of crafting. In the grand scheme of things, knitting is a fairly recent development. I started off strong with friendship bracelets and hemp kind of things. In middle school I went through an origami phase. I moved to...

Day 27: How do you acquire most of your yarn? Online retailers, local yarn shops, swaps, or large chain craft stores? What’s your favorite? I mostly buy from large chain stores because I am poor. Having said that, I would prefer to support local shops when I can afford to. I enjoy the friendliness of  local shops and felt comfortable asking some questions at the first place I walked in. During my...

Day 26: Have you ever been a part, or wanted to be a part of a knit-a-long? What was it? If not, why? I haven’t and at this point in my life I don’t think I really want to. Right now, knitting is a nice thing I can pick up for ten minutes or 2 hours depending on my schedule and if I was doing a knit along I would feel like I needed to keep pace. I might later in my life when I...

All these supposed pictures...
Day 25: Do you have a knitting book or a place where you keep patterns, ideas, size measurements? Post a picture of it. I do have this for my sewing but not so much for knitting. I have a folder on my computer where I keep the patterns I’ve made/altered myself (usually in Excel or Numbers) or patterns I’ve found online (ravelry). I do have a few books that I’ve accumulated from...
